food or shelter?

This is about ants.
This time, there have been few ant colonies at home. I dropped a pinch of sugar and that attracted them. No surprise(although it took longer than I expected). When I stopped using the laptop and after sometime when its lying there, I noticed some ants there. I didnt understand why wud they come if sugar is also present. Later I guessed that it came for the warmth of the laptop(these days its cold), because after a while it went back to the sugar. I have no idea how it could sense the heat. smell I can understand. Or was it just a coincidence? Maybe I should try another time.
I also found that ants are nice beings than most ppl think. They are friendly. They come with me wherever I go. Few even work with me.

Ha! Ha! Are u planning for a career shift to National Geographic? But, on a serious note, observing ants and birds is a very interesting thing... And they teach us quite a few things! But, that requires loads of patience. Do keep a journal of all their activities and you would see a lot of similarity in their activities and ours.... kinda like finding the patterns among pages of undecipherable codes and breaking it :) Have you tried it?

I havent maintained any history of these things bcos i have them in my mind(read:i was lazy to pen them). But yeah, most of the animal activities like dogs and crows(thats the only things i had enough oppurtunity to observe) are quite interesting(esp crows) and relate to us in more deeper sense.
Also, if u had/have any interesting encounters with non-humans do post them in ur blog sometime.

It's appropriate time to make some plans for the longer term and it's time to be happy.
