Then and Now

Then:
Not a day passes by, without being scolded by mom, because you didnt remove your shoes while entering the house or you are watching too much TV when you dont have a clue about what exam is on the next day.
Now:
Its very hard to get scolded by mom. She is too forgiving now.

Then:
You think you have wasted too much time today, not doing anything what you planned.
Now:
You think you have wasted too much time today, not doing anything what you planned.

Then:
You wear "color dress"(even colored uniforms are uncolored) to school and distribute choclate to each of your classmates on your birthday. You then goto a temple with your parents.
Now:
You get birthday greetings in emails,Orkut scraps or voicemails, because all your friends are seperated physically by more than the distance you had ever travelled in your entire childhood life. You then goto a pub with your girl friend who is another loser.

Then:
You say to yourself -"Unlike today I will get up early tomorrow".
Now:
You say to yourself -"Unlike today I will get up early tomorrow".

Then:
You are busy saving your pocket money because your friends asked for a treat for the new bicyle that you got.
Now:
You are busy saving your salary for paying your house loan and your kid's education.

Then:
You think "Street Cat"s are cool.
Now:
You think BMWs are cool.

Then:
You eat choclates, cakes and ice-creams fallen on the floor.
Now:
You don't eat anything before knowing how much calories it is.

Then:
You are eagerly looking forward to that summer vacation at your grandma's house where you play 24/7 with your cousins and other friends.
Now:
You are eagerly looking forward to that "get away" with your
wife to a God forsaken island.

Then:
You want become like your dad.
Now:
You don't know what you want to become.

Then:
You "collect" all your friends in bicycles and sit at the "kutti-suvaru" to discuss all your views about why life sucks.
Now:
You blog and your friends get RSS feeds.

Why do carpools exist?

It was originally proposed so that people become environmental friendly by considering driving together and reducing no.of vehicles on road.

Ofcourse there should be a perk to lure people, which is carpools lanes are faster and in order for it to be fast, less people should carpool which beats the objective.

Since less people carpool there are tons of people crawling on the other lanes and thereby waiting more on the road and causing more damage to the environment. After 7pm, the time when usually carpool restriction is taken off, traffic starts moving faster. Its quite amazing that "opening up" a single lane, can smoother traffic beautifully.

Not to mention that carpool usually also consists of lot of people going only with kids(picking them after school usu). Even if carpools werent there, kids wont drive by themselves. Carpools should atleast be "valid" only if the vehicle has 2+ adults or better 2+ license holders(which is difficult to check for, but can be ticketed heavily for ppl to avoid cheating). This will cause even less people to carpool, so it will become very obvious for it be totally removed.

So what exactly is the purpose of carpool lanes other than to cause as much inconvenience as possible to the drivers?
